Privacy notice and POPIA

LocalQuote SA operates plumbquotesa.com and is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice. We are a lead-referral publisher: we publish information pages and pass quote requests to plumbing businesses. We do not perform plumbing work.

Privacy and POPIA requests, and general queries: localquote@agentmail.to. Put “POPIA” in the subject line so that your request is handled as one.

When you submit the quote form we collect:

• Your name.
• Your mobile number, stored in a normalised format.
• The suburb and city you gave us.
• The job type you selected, and how soon you need someone if you told us.
• Any description of the job you chose to write.
• Your email address, only if you provided one.
• The fact that you gave POPIA consent, the exact wording, and the timestamp.

We also record limited technical information with the request: the page it was submitted from, the referring page, your browser’s user-agent string, the country your request came from, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address. The hash is used to limit abuse of the form. We do not store your raw IP address alongside the request.

We process this information to pass your quote request to one plumbing business so that they can contact you about the job, to keep a record that you consented, and to protect the form from automated abuse.

The legal basis is your consent under section 11(1)(a) of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013. The wording you agree to is:

I agree that LocalQuote SA may process the personal information in this form and share it with one local plumbing business so that they can contact me about this quote request.

You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to localquote@agentmail.to. Withdrawing consent does not undo a request that has already been passed on, but we will stop processing it further and delete our copy.

We share your request with one plumbing business that covers the suburb you gave us, so that they can contact you. We do not sell your details to marketing lists, and we do not distribute the same request to multiple contractors.

Once the request reaches that business they become responsible for their own processing of it under POPIA. Their retention and marketing practices are theirs, not ours — ask them directly if you want their privacy terms.

We also use operators (service providers) to run this site and store requests, which may include a hosting provider, a database or storage provider, and an email delivery provider. They process the information on our instructions only. Some of them may store or process data outside South Africa; where that happens we rely on the transfer conditions in section 72 of POPIA.

We keep quote requests for as long as we need them to follow up on the referral and to show that consent was given, and then delete them. If you ask us to delete your details sooner we will do so, unless a law requires us to keep a record.

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have grounds to keep.
• Withdraw your consent.
• Object to processing.
• Complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.

Write to localquote@agentmail.to and quote your reference number if you have one. We aim to respond within a reasonable period and will confirm what we have done.

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not embed third-party tracking scripts. Anything your browser stores is what is required for the site to function.

If we add analytics in future we will update this notice before doing so and describe what is collected.

Requests are submitted over HTTPS and stored with the provider we have configured for lead storage. Access is limited to the people who need it to operate the referral. No system is perfect: if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

This site is intended for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect the personal information of children.

We will update this page when our processing changes, and the review date at the top will change with it. Material changes to how we share your information will not be applied retroactively to requests already submitted.
